At the heart of the new health centre are seven new operating rooms In order to keep pace with advancing technology and to provide the best care possible, our community raised $1M in support to help the hospital purchase necessary surgical equipment.
Some of the new surgical equipment now in use are two new-generation colonoscopes, a new ureteroscope, image-guided surgery equipment for the Ear, Nose and Throat program, and an advanced operating room table The community is also benefiting from a new women’s clinic and an argon plasma coagulator. The Ophthalmology Clinic, now a northern Ontario centre of excellence is newly equipped with an advanced microscope, a YAG SLT laser and a Heidleberg Spectralis HRA (Camera).
