Rehabilitation Inpatient Program

Patients Served

Individuals who are able to actively participate in a therapy program and may be recovering from a stroke, amputation requiring prosthetic training, total joint replacement, multiple trauma or neurological illnesses.

Overview

This unit consists of 10 designated Rehabilitation beds on a 20-bed unit.

Rehabilitation Services are conveniently located on the unit and consist of nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, recreation therapy, speech language pathology and social work. Other services are accessed from elsewhere in the hospital and community as needed.

The goal of the Rehabilitation Program is to assist the patient to achieve his/her optimal level of independence through a collaborative multidisciplinary team process in preparation for discharge. Active participation of the patient and family is an integral component of the program.

Referral Information

Application for admission to the Rehabilitation Program requires a physician referral and can be made through the Rehabilitation Program Social Worker.
